Featured Home: A House in the Hills

Here at Kotimaa, we're big blog junkies because we love finding in creativity and inspiration from people through their own personalized perspectives.  One of our favorite blogs is A House In The Hills from local photographer Sarah Yates.  Her blog is so much more than her photography though, with tons of healthy recipes and inspirational style posts.

Through her blog we were also able to get a peek into her Palm Springs, CA home and can we say we have major home envy?  Everything feels so bright and open and her pieces are beautiful!

Featured Home: Library House by Jessica Helgerson

I came across Jessica Helgerson, a Portland based interior designer, online and immediately appreciated her design aesthetic. Her projects reflect a broad range of styles, but each showcase a well-planned, cohesive look.

In particular, I was particularly impressed with the Library House - a remodel and addition to what was originally a public library in Portland. Amazing! As an avid reader and patron of public libraries, I love this idea. It's a mix of vintage and modern, and is a creative use of relatively small space.

Featured Home :: Alvhem Mäkleri & Interiör

Desire to Inspire was where we first discovered Alvhem Mäkleri & Interiör and now it's become a regular on our blog roll. It's a Swedish real estate site and is great inspiration for Scandinavian design and aesthetics.

This is one of their recent homes which seamlessly incorporates so many of my favorite design elements:

• hanging pendant lamp - check, check, check!
• character pieces - that fireplace!
• simplicity with pops of color or texture - loving the rug in the bedroom
• wallpaper - I think wallpaper is so easily overwhelming and hard to get right - this is a great exception!
